CHOOSING MUSIC
The following list of music is offered as a guide to help you in selecting appropriate music for a funeral Mass. This is by no means a complete or exhaustive list and your choices are not limited to those listed. There is a variety of styles from which to choose, from traditional to contemporary, and our list contains the most familiar and oft requested hymns.
Both Saint John and Saint Ann Parishes use the hymnal Breaking Bread, published by OCP. While we do try to honor special music requests, please note that the text of your music selections must be sacred and should come from a reputable sacred music publisher. Popular secular songs are better shared with family and friends in a non-liturgical gathering. Prerecorded music may not be played during the funeral rite. Our music director will assign a cantor and accompanist from our music ministry to play at the funeral Mass.
